Virgin Mobile 3G4GLTE Coverage & Performance

About Virgin Mobile Wireless and Internet

Virgin® Mobile[+]is a prepaid cell phone service provider that offers service on the Nationwide Sprint® Network, like Boost® Mobile and Kajeet®. If you’re in coverage area, you will have reliable coverage, but if you go outside it, you will have spotty coverage at best. The Sprint network itself has far more coverage available than Virgin Mobile.

Data Services Available from Virgin Mobile

Virgin Mobile offers 3G, 4G, 4G LTE, and WiMax coverage[+], though not in all areas. Virgin Mobile also offers standard 2G data coverage in some areas. Virgin Mobile has dead zones in the western United States and in less populated areas in the east, though there are some spots that offer 2G coverage that are dead on Boost Mobile. This could be due to the fact that Virgin Mobile leases more network space from Sprint than Boost does.

  • 3G Map: The 3G map shows a lot of coverage on the east coast, with a lot of “no coverage” in the central United States, and a decent amount of 3G coverage in the Western U.S. More dead space exists in Western states than in the rest of the country.
  • 4G Map:The 4G map is similar to the 3G coverage, but it does offer less overall than the 3G map. You are required to zoom in to a specific local area to find out more about the available coverage, but it appears to closely match the 3G network. You must have a compatible device in order to use the 4G coverage.
  • LTE Map: The 4G LTE map is similar to, but spottier than the 4G map. You must zoom in to a specific local area to find out more about the available coverage, but it appears to closely match the 4G network. You must have a compatible device in order to use the 4G coverage.
  • WiMax Map: There is very little nationwide WiMax 4G coverage available on the Virgin Mobile/Sprint network.

Special Considerations for 3G4GLTE Coverage with Virgin Mobile

Remember, coverage maps are only an estimate of where coverage could be available. They are not a guarantee of where coverage will be, as a number of factors influence data speed and availability.
